Winter Skin

Ah, skincare... it's such an individual battle based upon genetics, environment, and how much care and time you put into it. For me, I break out from time to time, but for the most part, I keep things under control with very few products. In the winter months, however, it feels like a whole new ballgame and I have to step-up my routine - big time.

It's not only crazy dryness from the cold weather and indoor heating, but weird blotchy spots and skin that just feels like it's it's losing luster. Enter: Winter products.

So here you go... a roundup of some of my favorite products that I can't live without during the coldest time of the year, and some new ones that have seriously helped my troubled skin lately.

1. Satin Pillowcase

This may seem silly, but where you lay your head at night matters, and it matters a lot. When we worked with Stacked Skincare they shared so many amazing tips with us, one of which is to change your pillowcases more often than your sheets. (Every day if you're acne prone.) I take this a step further by always sleeping on a satin pillowcases. I'm obsessed with the way it feels on my skin, and it's not just an old Hollywood movie star trick - I wake up without any indentations on my skin. (And I'm a stomach sleeper!)

2. Laneige Water Sleeping Mask

This mask is something that I feel like I can use all of the time - not just in the winter months. (Although it's more than perfect for this time of year.) While other masks may vary, offering different topical treatments for different reasons, this water banked baby offers your skin so much more moisture without all the unnecessary fluff. It's simple, when I'm feeling extra dry, Laneige offers intense hydration. I layer it on at night and awake with soft, dewy skin.

3. Grapeseed oil

So many uses for this magic oil! I literally use it head-to-toe and my skin just eats it up. I use this on the daily as a moisturizer under my makeup, and also as a makeup remover. The key to getting a really clean face is to first remove all of your makeup (rub the oil on eyes, all over face, then wipe it off with warm washcloth), then do a second step of cleansing with your cleanser, then this oil can be applied again as a moisturizer. It's like a double treat for dry, winter skin. Love, love, love this stuff! You'll see a glow the next day!

4. Monat Rejuveniqe Intensive Oil

While I'll always be a fan of grape seed oil, it's too heavy to put into your hair. Enter: Monat's to-die-for products. I have never (ever!) used a shampoo and conditioner that gives my color-treated hair such softness and sheen (more on that later), and I have yet to find an oil with so many uses. I rub a tiny drop of this on my fingertips and finish the tips of my hair with this lemon scented miracle. It feels so luxurious and I dab the rest on any dry spots on my face.

5. Garnier BB cream with SPF

Not a fan of heavy concealer and base, I've been using Garnier BB cream forever. I love that it has SPF, so in one step I'm getting protection from the sun, anti-aging elements, and light coverage with a luminous tint. This definitely feels moisturizing in the colder months! I will still try new products from time-to-time (cuz that's my, er, job), but I always go back to this one! I even gifted it as xmas gifts.

Looking forward to spring!
